Our Team

Prior to forming Aleutian, he was engaged in private law practice in New York City for over thirty years, having started his career at a major Wall Street law firm. He formed the law firm of Black & Associates in January, 2002. From 1986 until December, 2001, he was a member of the law firm of DeForest & Duer, as Chairman of its Corporate Department. He also serves as general counsel to other business enterprises.

Mr. Black has served as Vice Chairman of MacMillan Ring-Free Oil Co., Inc., a publicly traded oil and gas company, in 1986 and 1987 and was a member of the Board of Directors of Vault.com Inc., a career-oriented Internet and publishing company, from 1999 until October 2007. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Cleveland E. Dodge Foundation, a private charitable foundation.

Mr. Black received his BA in 1968, his law degree in 1971, and his Master of Laws in Taxation degree in 1979, all from New York University.

Lee Black joined with James Sterling to form Aleutian Capital Partners, LLC in May 2004.

Since joining Aleutian Capital in 2010, Mr Lee has been involved in all aspects of the firm. His primary responsibilities now include leading sell-side and buy-side M&A engagements involving private companies and leading private equity firms.

Before joining Aleutian Capital in 2010, Mr. Lee worked in the Wealth Management Division at Wedbush Securities in 2009. Before Wedbush, he worked in the Corporate Development team at Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he assisted in various M&A transactions and participated in recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team.

Mr. Lee graduated from St. John’s University in New York with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance. At St John’s, he was selected to the prestigious Student Managed Investment Fund, where he was given the opportunity to actively manage the school’s multimillion dollar equity portfolio. He enjoys traveling, snowboarding and is a fan of the New York Rangers and Manchester United F.C.

Mr. Pfeffer joined Aleutian in 2010. He led the financing of an expansion plan for Global Sugar Art LLC, an internet commerce firm. Daniel has an extensive track record of building and exiting specialty online retailers to both private equity sponsors and strategic investors. He has held multiple senior level positions at top 100 internet retailers in a variety of categories. Daniel is also the Managing Partner of the private equity fund Mercent Capital Group. Previous experience includes serving as the CEO of Lighting by Gregory (New York City’s largest residential lighting retailer) and roles as a senior manager at Rakuten’s affiliate solution provider Linkshare Corporation.

Daniel holds an MBA and BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is an avid skier and tennis player and is a member of the New York City YPO organization. Daniel is also a board member of the MaxCure Foundation for Pediatric Cancer as we all as the chairman of the Spreading Smiles for Saige Foundation.

Mr. Von Holten joined Aleutian in 2019. Prior to joining Aleutian, Mr. Von Holten interned as a Financial Representative at Northwestern Mutual where he assisted clients in financial planning and wealth management.

Mr. Von Holten graduated Cum Laude from the University Honor’s Program at The University of Alabama where he obtained a degree in Finance and Economics. While at Alabama, he was actively involved in Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. He enjoys watching the New York Yankees, playing golf, and traveling back to Tuscaloosa to attend Alabama football games.

Mr. Singh joined Aleutian in 2019. Prior to joining Aleutian, he co-founded a financial news platform that delivered briefs on financial, economic, and M&A headlines, and grew its global membership by 1,900 readers. Before this, he was at Sharan Builders, where he collaborated with management on financial and operational projects.

Mr. Singh graduated from Baruch College, The City University of New York, with a degree in Finance and a minor in Communication Studies. He was actively involved in Baruch College’s United Sikh Association and served as treasurer for a year. He enjoys staying active, fitness, outdoor activities, and live music.

Mr. Zimmerman joined Aleutian in 2021. Prior to joining Aleutian, Mr. Zimmerman was a summer analyst at Search Fund Accelerator, where he assisted in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities in the lower-middle market.

Mr. Zimmerman graduated from Connecticut College, where he obtained a degree in Economics, with a minor in Finance and Computer Science. While at Connecticut College, he served as the captain of the men’s varsity basketball team and was named to the NESCAC All-Academic team. He enjoys watching sports, playing golf, and skiing.

Mr. Barnes joined Aleutian Capital in 2022. Prior to joining Aleutian, Mr. Barnes was in the securities and operations division at Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) where he assisted senior management with investment research, diligence, strategy implementation, and execution.  

Mr. Barnes graduated from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management, where he obtained a degree in Finance and Data Analytics. While at Boston College, he was actively involved in the Appalachia Volunteer Program and 4Boston service organization. In his free time, he enjoys functional fitness, skiing, and is an avid fan of the Red Sox and Bruins.

Mr. Taliercio joined Aleutian in 2022. Prior to joining Aleutian, Mr. Taliercio was an M&A analyst at Willis Towers Watson, where he managed private equity insurance portfolios utilizing several risk management models and techniques.

Mr. Taliercio graduated from St. John’s University, where he obtained a degree in Quantitative Risk Management. He was actively involved in the St. John’s University finance club. He enjoys watching sports, fitness, and is a fan of the New York Giants and Brooklyn Nets.

Mr. Doolin joined Aleutian Capital in 2024. Prior to joining Aleutian, Mr. Doolin was a Business Advisory Summer Analyst at LGA, LLP where he supported senior team members with M&A diligence and advisory, valuation reports, and fractional CFO responsibilities.

Mr. Doolin graduated from Colby College, where he obtained a degree in Economics, with a concentration in Financial Markets. While at Colby College, he was a member of the men’s varsity ice hockey team and was named to the NESCAC All-Academic team. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with family.
